Why are many catalysts transition metals?

This is because transition metals generally have variable oxidation states, by giving or receiving electrons, this allows for different reaction pathways which use a lower activation energy, speeding up the speed of the reaction.

I think.

I was just thinking.

I am not on drugs.

But I think it's still time to change myself.
